A 50-point win over the Blues got the Hawks' season back on track. Lance Franklin has his best game for the year.

Despite the Swans scoring one goal more than Hawthorn, two late behinds got the Hawks home. Again, Lance Franklin is suspended for high head contact to Swans defender Martin Mattner.

The Hawks led all day but finally succumbed in the last quarter. They missed some opportunities in the third quarter. Lance Franklin was the lead-goalkicker for Hawthorn. This loss ensured Hawthorn have not beaten Geelong since the 2008 AFL Grand Final.

St Kilda got off to a positive start but Hawthorn clawed their way back late in the first quarter. Lance Franklin kicked 5 goals, his best against the Saints. However, an interchage error overshadowed the last 2 minutes of play for the game, resulting in a no-goal for a goal kicked by Cyril Rioli. St Kilda managed to level the game in the last 20 seconds of the game, forcing a draw.[2] One point was the score separating the two teams at quarter time anf half time, but was level at three-quarter time.

Hawthorn lost by eight points after having led for the majority of the contest.
19 Sydney Swans SCG

Sydney played a dominant first half, before the Hawks came out firing in the third-quarter. But they didn't do enough; the closest they got to Sydney in the second half was within 23 points. Lance Franklin kicked four goals, the most in the Hawthorn side.

The Hawks broke free from the Demons during the last quarter to run away with a 21-point win to keep their finals hopes alive as well as end Melbourne's.

Hawthorn started extremely well, restricting Fremantle to 2 behinds in the first quarter, while kicking 5 goals 4 behinds themselves.[3] Fremantle never mounted a challenge, letting Hawthorn blow the game wide open. The final margin was 116 points. Lance Franklin registered 5 goals for the Hawks.

Hawthorn trailed behind towards the end of the match, but stole the lead from about 22 minutes into the last quarter.[4]

The Hawks suffered injuries to Cyril Rioli and Xavier Ellis during the first quarter, hindering its rotations. At half-time, they kicked 1.11, its lowest half-time finals score. Lance Franklin failed to fire, whereas Jarryd kicked four goals. They never looked like challenging the Dockers, eventually going down by 30 points.[5]
